The largest office projects under construction in the Bay Area total more than 5 million square feet of space.

Some of the space is pre-leased, such as part of the Salesforce Tower in the Transbay District or Bay Meadows IV in San Mateo, and some is single-user such as Facebook or UCSF’s project, but a decent number of these projects are being on built on spec and have yet to land tenants. The Exchange on 16th and 181 Fremont in San Francisco and 400-450 Concar in San Mateo are looking to line up users.

The economic impact of these projects is huge, with more than $1.2 billion in building costs and thousands of jobs created.
