MatriScope was founded as a construction support service firm in West Sacramento, California. We provide engineering and construction inspection services covering a broad range of disciplines including geotechnical and environmental engineering, building inspection, special inspection, and materials testing. A California-based corporation, MatriScope now operates from its corporate headquarters located in West Sacramento with satellite offices in Oakland and South Lake Tahoe, California.

Our Geotechnical Engineering professionals have extensive experience preparing foundation designs and engineering recommendations for projects located within the greater Sacramento, San Joaquin Valley, and Tahoe basin areas. We have gained specific expertise working with the geology associated with the downtown corridor encompassing the City of Sacramento having worked on many of the regions existing buildings.

MatriScope’s Environmental Assessment professionals and affiliated companies have extensive experience providing environmental consultation and review for projects located within the greater Northern California region. Our services include the preparation of reports that meet or exceed ASTM E 1527-05 criteria. Services include: Phase I environmental site assessments, compliance audits, and Phase II subsurface investigations, soil and groundwater remediation, soil and groundwater sampling, asbestos, and lead surveys and storm water management plans.

Our seasoned Building and Special Inspectors provide quality assurance and quality control management for privately owned, as well as, Federal, State, and locally-owned projects. This includes providing project inspector and special inspection services during construction and renovation of public schools, building inspectors for commercial and contract work associated with local building departments, and special inspectors who perform structural and inspections related to concrete, prestressed concrete, masonry, structural steel, and fireproofing. Our inspection personnel have received advanced training and are certified to perform their duties by recognized agencies including the International Code Council (ICC), American Welding Society (AWS), American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT), National Institute for Certification of Engineering Technologies (NICET), California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), and the Division of the State Architect (DSA).

With our advanced laboratory facilities and testing capabilities, MatriScope is able to provide an extensive array of materials testing support services including geotechnical soil analysis, concrete, asphalt, masonry, metallurgical, fireproofing, bolting, ultrasonic, dye penetrant, magnetic particle and many other common construction related product and materials tests. For projects in remote locations, our state-of-the-art mobile laboratory facilities bring testing on-site. Our laboratory facilities are in general compliance with ASTM E 329, Testing Agencies for Construction, ASTM E 543 Evaluating Agencies that Perform Nondestructive Testing, and ASTM D 3740 Evaluation of Agencies Engaged in Testing and/or Inspection of Soil or Rock Used in Engineering Design and Construction. Furthermore, the laboratory facility is inspected biannually by CCRL (National Institute of Standards and Technology) and AMRL (AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory) and is approved by local City and County Building Inspection Departments, and Division of State Architect (DSA) – Laboratory Evaluation and Acceptance (LEA).
