CALTRANS DISTRICT 3 HEADQUARTERS
MARYSVILLE, CA

The Caltrans District 3 Headquarters is a design/build effort for the State of California with the Turner and AC Martin Partners team charged with this commission. The new office building will feature loft-like open offices with high ceilings and natural lighting for Caltrans administration, design and engineering studios. The facility is being designed to house 776 Caltrans employees and includes a 200-seat auditorium, public service counters, teleconferencing facilities, childcare center and a cafeteria with outdoor tables and canvas awnings. The structure is designed using a hybrid, precast concrete frame and exterior skin incorporating post-tensioned cables at the exterior frame.

AC Martin Partners relied on MatriScope to perform building code compliance, geotechnical earthwork observation, and special inspection and material testing related to precast concrete, post-tensioned concrete, cast-in-place concrete, epoxy anchors, masonry, and structural steel.

SOLANO TWIN CAMPUS PROJECT
SOLANO COUNTY, CA

The Solano Twin Campus consist of multiple projects at different sites:

Health and Social Services Building ($28M)

Vallejo, CA
The Health and Social Services Building project included construction of a new 58,000 square foot, 3-story steel-frame facility, renovation of existing 550-space parking lot, and related landscaping improvements. This building now integrates health services such as primary care, mental health, public health, substance abuse, child welfare, employment, Medi-Cal, food stamps and services for older and disabled adults.

Public Health Clinic/ Laboratory and Forensics Laboratory ($18M)
Fairfield, CA
This project involved construction of a new 30,000 square foot 2-story steel-frame building, new parking lots, and related landscaping improvements.  Relocated from Vallejo, this upgraded laboratory enhances public health services and emergency response. The laboratory also provides essential lab analysis that supports the efforts of the district attorney and sheriff.

South Government Center ($12M)                 
Vallejo, CA
The South Government Center project at 355 Tuolumne Street consisted of interior improvements with limited improvements to the exterior of existing three-story 61,700 square-foot concrete building, which now houses various county departments. The 321 Tuolumne Street project was a full renovation of the second floor and minor tenant improvements to the first floor of the Solano Justice building totaling approximately 9,000 square feet.

MatriScope provided geotechnical engineering recommendations during construction related to expansive subgrade soil to address the concern of clayey soils encountered during grading of the site. In addition, MatriScope provided all special inspections and material testing services related to earthwork, concrete, masonry, steel, and fireproofing.

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY ADMINISTRATION BUILDING
STOCKTON, CA

The County Administration Building project, located on the corner of Weber and San Joaquin Streets, consolidates administrative and services departments into an efficient facility that will accommodate projected staff growth for the next several decades. The Design-Build construction of the six-story, 250,000 square-foot office building included grade beam foundation, supporting structural steel brace framed shell with composite concrete and metal deck floors, and a pre-cast concrete exterior skin.

A sub-consultant to Condor, MatriScope provided special inspections and material testing services related to concrete, masonry, structural steel, high-strength bolting, and fireproofing. 




SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY ADMINISTRATION BUILDING
       

STANLEY MOSK LIBRARY AND COURTS BUILDING REHABILITATION
SACRAMENTO, CA

The renovation of this 188,000 square-foot, 5-Story granite Library and Courts Building also included seismic upgrades. This project’s primary goals were to gain back the historic character of the landmark State Library and Courts Building and to upgrade the buildings infrastructure systems to support future needs. Renovations included upgrading security, accessibility, fire and life safety systems, repairing roof and shell damage, abating hazardous materials and restoring historic features such as ceilings, lights, elevators, and public art.

MatriScope provided special inspection and materials testing including; concrete formwork and reinforcement, cast-in-place concrete, post-installed anchors, concrete unit masonry, structural steel, and steel decking.

STATE OFFICE BUILDINGS 8 AND 9
SACRAMENTO, CA

Renovation of these two 18 floor towers, including 540,000 square feet of office space for the State of California Department of Social Services (DSS), will include implementation of new mechanical, electrical and telecommunications systems, structural upgrades addressing seismic considerations, overall building upgrades meeting current code requirements, and minor repairs to the exterior shell. The seismic retrofit upgrades include epoxy dowel installation and hydraulic dampening system incorporated into the newly installed steel brace frames. Remaining renovations included the HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life systems.

The State of California, Department of General Services (DGS) relied on MatriScope to perform geotechnical engineering, micro pile installation, and perform special inspection and material testing related to cast-in-place concrete, epoxy anchors, masonry, structural steel, high-strength bolting, and fireproofing.

The State of California, Department of General Services (DGS) has relied on MatriScope since 2006. Partial project involvement includes Franchise Tax Board Renovation, Tahoe Base Center Relocation, Lower Blackwood Creek Restoration, Vallecito Conservation Camp, Harts Mill Forest Fire Station Replace Facility, DMV Asbestos Removal/Renovation, Relocate Raymond Forest Fire Station, and Rancheria Forest Fire Station. The 22 regions stretch from Tehama County in the north to Madera County in the south.

GLOBAL HAWK DORMITORY & WORKING DOG KENNEL
BEALE AFB, CA

The Global Hawk Dormitory project was a Design-Build assignment to design and construct a three-story, 96 room, dormitory. Building construction incorporated a reinforced concrete foundation supporting masonry walls and elevated spancrete floor diaphragm. Construction included a standing seam metal roof, utilities, fire detection/protection, site improvements, landscaping, access road, sidewalks, communication support and demolition of the existing kennel.

MatriScope provided all geotechnical, special inspections and material testing services during construction of this fast track assignment.
