TAHOE CENTER
FOR ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES
INCLINE VILLAGE, NV
Located in the heart of Sierra Nevada College’s
18-acre Lake Tahoe Campus, in Incline Village, Nevada, the Tahoe Center
for Environmental Sciences (TCES) was constructed using “green” technology.
With passive solar architecture, and active solar systems for generating
electricity and hot water, TCES will achieve at least a gold rating for
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). TCES is a 45,000
square foot, three-story lab facility. This building consists
of two stories of research labs and office space, exhibits, and a conference
center accomodating 300 people.
MatriScope provided special inspection services
related to reinforced concrete, masonry, structural steel welding, and
fireproofing.

VETERINARY
MEDICINE INSTRUCTIONAL FACILITY
UC DAVIS CAMPUS
DAVIS, CA
The two-story, 40,000 square foot Veterinary
Medicine Instructional Facility will provide space for teaching facilities
that includes lecture halls, classrooms, seminar/conference rooms, clinical
teaching laboratories, computer laboratory, offices and ancillary support
space. The scope of work would include
site preparation, clearing, grading and drainage; on-site utility distribution;
construction of the building shell; interior improvements for the occupants;
and development of exterior landscape elements.
MatriScope performed
special inspections and testing services related to concrete, precast
concrete, masonry, steel, expansion anchors, and fireproofing.

400 – STUDENT SERVICES CENTER
SOLANO COMMUNITY COLLEGE
FAIRFIELD, CA
The new Student Services Center project includes
a new two-story building to be constructed of concrete tilt-up panels
and gravity frame structural steel supporting floor and roof loads. This
43,000 square foot will allow the Fairfield campus to consolidate the
Student Services Programs within a single location thereby improving
student access. The project is scheduled to be complete Fall
2007.
MatriScope provided geotechnical engineering and
observation during the construction phase. In addition, MatriScope performed
all special inspections related to structural concrete, masonry, structural
steel welding, and fireproofing.

STUDENT HOUSING APARTMENTS
WILLIAM JESSUP UNIVERSITY
ROCKLIN, CA
MatriScope provided special inspection and material testing for the construction of a new Student Housing Apartments at William Jessup University. This $25 million dollar expansion, the apartments will provide the private institution living accommodations for an additional 192 students. The three-story, 24 unit complex with two-story, subterranean parking lot required a mass excavation into the Mehrtan lava formation. The structure included a post-tensioned podium slab supporting the wood-framed housing units.
MatriScope provided special inspections and material testing, services included: proof-rolling observation, soil compaction and moisture tests, pier observation, concrete compression testing, and structural steel inspection and testing.
