GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING

STAFF PROJECT EXPERIENCE:
Some of our staff's local experience with complex building foundations in Northern California:

Village at NorthStar Resort Phases 1, 2, 3: New ski-in, ski-out village. Geotechnical engineering, pile driving, earthwork observation and testing.

NorthStar Drive at HWY 267: Intersection improvements to mitigate increased traffic. Geotechnical engineering and earthwork observation and testing.

Marysville Joint Unified School District: 14 School Sites located throughout Yuba County. Included new classrooms, cafeterias, multi-purpose rooms, etc. Geotechnical engineering and earthwork observation and testing.

Highlands Drive: Seven miles of new roadway, seven precast concrete bridges, and extensive roadway cuts and fills. Geotechnical engineering and earthwork observation and testing.

Sacramento International Jet Center: New airplane hanger and service facility and boarding area. Geotechnical engineering and earthwork observation and testing.

Downtown US Post Office: 8th and I streets, Four story seismic upgrade of historic building, Geotechnical report

US Army Corps of Engineers Office Building: 1325 J Street, 17 story high rise. Geotechnical engineering, pile driving, earthwork observation and testing.

1201 K Street: 16 story high rise building with a two level basement below grade. Geotechnical engineering, pile driving, earthwork observation and testing.

Lincoln Plaza: 4th and P Streets. Geotechnical engineering, pile driving, earthwork observation and testing.

Sutter General Hospital: 28th and L Streets, Geotechnical Investigation, load testing and pile driving.

What lies under your property is as important as what you build above it – especially when construction is under consideration or there might be contamination of the soil or ground water. Properly performed geotechnical engineering leads to improved foundation designs, reduces construction delays, and aids in the assessment of environmental risks.

Our professional staff excels when it comes to deep foundations and creative design solutions incorporating the use of dewatering systems, driven piles, caissons, drilled piers, mat foundations, sheet piles, shoring and underpinning systems and associated load test programs necessary to confirm design performance.

Our comprehensive geotechnical recommendations begin with an initial subsurface investigation to assess underground soil conditions. A complete laboratory testing program is then conducted in order to determine soil strength and other soil parameters. A report of our conclusions and recommendations is then provided to our client for use during the remaining design and construction effort. During grading, underground installation and foundation excavation our services are also employed to perform construction inspection, compaction testing, and foundation observation.

Additional services provided include installation and monitoring of piezometers and settlement gauges, slope stability analyses, retaining wall design, drilled shafts and driven piles analysis, supervision of reinforced earth construction, cement treated base or lime treated sub-base design, pavement design.

MatriScope maintains a fleet of land and marine subsurface exploration equipment, providing the most cost-effective means to determine conditions. Our crews are backed by the expertise of our senior engineers and laboratory technicians. Our comprehensive geotechnical services include:
